There were 35 areas detected with faulty and/or cracked sewer lines. These were discovered by using a video camera inside the sewer lines showing the infiltration of storm water. These lines were repaired by the Authority sewer crew. This meant a substantial saving by not using an outside contractor. These repairs were completed ahead of the EPA's deadline, avoiding any penalties or fines. The Authority, on their own accord , instituted a preventative maintenance program for correcting reoccurring problems. This program will regularly utilize the video imaging equipment to view the sanitary system sewer lines. The Authority's Sewer Crew also removed tree roots and debris in fifty sanitary lines and placed eight hundred manhole inserts to keep storm water from seeping into the manholes from the roadways. |
